About Joe's Drive-Away

Hello, I'm Joe, the founder of Joe's Drive-Away Service and Drive-Away.ca.

Joe's Drive-Away is an independently owned vehicle relocation business based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada specializing in door to door driven delivery of road worthy vehicles anywhere in Canada. I personally try to move all the personal vehicles we get and leave the contract jobs & commercial vehicles up to my team. This allows me to meet new clients and keeps me on the road, where I love to be.

I've been licensed since 1983 and I have a clean abstract with no demerits. I average over 100,000 kilometres per year and have been accident free since the 90's when I was hit from behind in my personal vehicle while sitting at a stop light.

I have driven everything from Motorcycles up to B-Train Tractor Trailers across Canada and the US in all kinds of weather and different terrain. I was a long-haul truck driver for almost 10 years and did a stint working for a tow company contracted to CAA. I didn't drive a tow-tow truck (that didn't interest me) I was their light service driver which means I was the person they called when a customer's vehicle wouldn't start but didn't think it would need a tow. It was my job to try and get the vehicle going.

In 2009 not long after leaving the tow company I started moving heavy trucks from the US to Ontario for friends and contacts in the trucking industry and that is how Joe's Drive-Away Service got it's start. I operated this business on a part time basis until awarded a contract in 2012 that required expanding my service and running full time. 2012 is also the year I decided to start moving personal vehicles regularly.

Although you may not agree once you see our quote there is not a lot of money to be made moving personal vehicles so in 2018, I focused solely on personal vehicles and left the more profitable commercial vehicles to my team. I'm a firm believer that a happy employee will go out of their way to keep a client happy, and a happy client makes for a happy business owner.

In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic hit and like most small businesses took a toll on us but we survived and everything is back to normal.

This year my plan is to change the business name from Joe's Drive-Away Service to Drive-Away.ca and get back to doing US runs.
